We’ve got a Cannondale Adventure 2 here in the shop with a BionX PL350 kit and man is it becoming a popular choice. You see, many people look for a BionX system to equip on a bicycle they already own but there are just as many people who wonder about installing a BionX kit on a new bike. That way they get the sophisticated electric bike kit plus a quality new bicycle. Best of both worlds, no?
The question is always, “Why would I buy a kit and a bike when I could get a packaged electric bicycle for the same price?”
Cannondale Adventure with BionX electric bike kit
It’s a good observation and worth consideration. Why would you invest a bit more money in buying an electric bike kit and a bicycle at the same time? Well in the case of a BionX bike kit the answer is simple: if you install a top of the line electric bike kit plus a new quality bicycle you’ll end up with something a cut above any packaged electric bike.
Why not buy a straight up electric bike?
This reasoning often makes people reconsider. I mean, this is no knock against ready to go electric bicycles but, when you buy the two products separately and then combine them you get a bit more for you money. Think about it: when you buy a BionX kit you’re getting a high end electric bike kit produced in Canada. All your money goes towards that electric kit with none of it going towards a bike frame to mount it on.
Then you put another sum of money fully towards getting a great bike frame that fits you perfectly and is manufactured by a name brand builder like Trek, Cannondale, or Giant. All your money goes right to that frame, to the parts, and to the aesthetics and quality. You’ll know for sure you’ve got the best possible from both product markets. Combine them together and you get an electric bicycle that can compete with the best out there for comfort, features, weight, and fit.
Our own BionX electric bike is a great setup
That’s just why the Cannondale bike in our shop with the BionX kit has become such a popular conversion. We usually just send folks down the street to Bicycles NYC to buy the kit and then have them come right back for the electric kit installation. It’s a perfect symbiotic relationship for our two bike shops and gives the customer a great deal of selection for both bikes and electric kits.
Been thinking of getting a new bike and installing an electric kit on it? Our Cannondale Adventure 2 has been a real popular choice… which BionX kit will you install on yours?

Hi,
Could you please tell me if it is possible to install the 2012 bionx 48 volts on Cannondale Quick SL 1 Bike? [ 30 gears.]
I am looking for a light bike with carbon fork and the 2012 bionx 48 volts.
What quality bike will be suitable?
What will be the total cost?
Thanks
Patrick.
That bike has 10 speeds so it wont be compatible. You’ll need to get a bike with 7 to 9 gears in the back. That’s because BionX uses a freewheel system which only goes up to 9 speeds. -Peter
