Brompton US Championship Race

Team NYCeWheels with their Brompton Bikes, minus Bert.

On a beautiful day in Philadelphia, the NYCeWheels staff traveled to the first annual Brompton Folding Bike US Championship Race. Dressed in jackets and ties, our riders certainly stood out against the Lycra-clad professional racers.

The track was a 6-mile closed circuit around Fairmount Park on the riverfront in Philadelphia. The winner, Aaron Ritz, went home with a ticket to the Brompton World Championship race in England. In 6th place was former NYCeWheels employee Matt Sundin, riding a Brompton M3L. I finished 13th on my S2L, and Bert and Izzy were the next two NYCeWheels riders, somewhere around the middle of the pack.

Bert and I both rode with helmet cams, so we’ll have some videos of the race posted here in the next week or so. In the meantime, check out the NYCeWheels Flickr Page for some pictures of the race.
