Bring on the custom folding bikes.

by Jack on July 26, 2012

As a bike shop, you have to have a healthy respect for systematic and efficient processes. Always, we are seeking out the best way to do something— the best way to pack an e- bike, the best way to process an order, the best way to build up a folding bike and make sure it’s perfectly tuned up— so that when a customer comes to us they get exactly what they need every time. The other day, Roberto, our shipper, ran up to me eyes bright with excitement, just to tell me that he had invented a new, safer, and more efficient way to pack a handlebar. Ah the endless wonders of packing foam, never fails to amaze.

But producing the best results each and every time requires more than just sticking to what has worked in the past, it also requires a commitment to creativity and innovation. You can’t just stick with what already works, you have to imagine what could work better, and work hard to attain previously unimagined goals.

This is what really distinguishes NYCeWheels from other bike shops that I’ve seen, their ability to look at a great thing, and imagine how it could be made even better.

NYCeWheels’ Custom Kick Scooters

KickPed

The KickPed

The best examples of this can be seen in NYCeWheels’ many customized products. Take the KickPed, NYCeWheels custom Kick Scooter. With over 14 years of experience selling Kick Scooters, NYCeWheels was in a great position to see what works and what doesn’t. The KickPed was created as an attempt to build a Kick Scooter that would fulfill all the needs of their customers, adding taller handlebars for adult riders and an elongated wheel base for stability at high speeds.

The City Kicker is another good example. Here NYCeWheels started with one of their most popular Kick Scooters, the Xootr MG and made a few modifications to make it that much better, adding a custom paint job and adding the possibility for cork grips and fenders.

The Electric Brompton

The Electric Brompton

The Electric Brompton

The E-Brompton is my personal favorite NYCeWheels invention. Here’s a bike that is already brimming with creativity and innovation. The Brompton Bike is not only among our lightest and smallest folding bikes, it’s also handmade out of a high grade steel that will last you the rest of your life. Take this and add a 250 watt motor and you have an incredibly versatile, folding, electric bike, capable of going 45 miles on a single charge and still fitting in the back of your trunk.

These are among the many inventions that exemplify NYCeWheels’ creativity and commitment to their customers. There are, of course, many projects on the horizon. Hot off the press, NYCeWHeels has just released a custom design of the GoPed, and has plans to make a custom folding bike in the near future. So drop by the shop, take a test ride on the KickPed, the E-Brompton, or another of NYCeWheels latest inventions.
