We haven’t had a customer review lately, and this one seemed worthy of presentation. So without further adieu I present: Michael W’s Torq II electric bike review -Peter
I have had the Ezee Torq II for a few months now and I am happy to report that I am very pleased with everything that this electric bike can do. Most of my riding consists of city streets, some filled with potholes, gravel, and other road muck. The Torq II has handled everything I’ve thrown at it with ease on my 25 mile round trip commute including a little snow.
It has taken the place of my SUV that I used to take to work most of the time and put some extra cash in my pocket each week due to high fuel costs.
How this electric bike compare to my other bikes…
We didn't have a good picture from Michael, so this one is a nice fantasy!
I have a few different types of bikes, one being an all carbon fiber road bike that is very light and fast but not even close to the comfort level of the Torq II electric bike. I would rather ride my Torq II to work than any bike that I have ever ridden to date. To me, this electric bike is the ultimate commuting bike for someone who likes to go fast and wants to get from A to B without breaking too much of a sweat in the process.
The ride is firm, but comfortable. I am able to ride without biking tights or shorts due to the comfortable seat. Depending on how I’m feeling I can turn up the “assist” to a level that I feel comfortable with. That’s one advantage of a pedelec electric bike. Being the speed demon that I am I tend to ride at around 21 mph all the way to work depending on the weather and traffic. The assist helps me to 20 mph but I am also getting a workout by trying to push the bike a little faster at times.
Electric bicycles and exercise
If you think that you can’t get a work out on one of these electric bikes then you are wrong. There are many health benefits of an electric bike. You are still pedaling but the bike is making you feel almost super human with the extra power. Another thing that’s great about the bike is that it gets up to speed very quickly. This is a great help in getting through busy intersections quickly from a stop. Most of the time I will charge the battery at work as well as at home but I have no doubt that I could do 25+ miles on a single charge.
Sometimes my girlfriend will ride this bike while I ride my road bike and I have a very tough time keeping up while she is cruising with ease. She keeps telling me how much she wants one!
My Torq II climbs hills easily
One thing that I noticed when I first got the bike is that the gearing didn’t seem to go very low. I have recently noticed though that with an electric bike (and this particular bike) that you don’t need low gearing because the motor will do a lot of the work for you while going up a hill. I go up what I consider to be a really steep hill on this bike nearly 4 times a week and I rarely feel the need to get out of the saddle. I know that without the electric assist most riders would fail at this particular hill.
My Torq II electric bike has been a joy to ride and I look forward to continue to ride it. NYCeWheels has been nothing but helpful and I would most definitely buy from them again.
