After years of research and trial and error, we’ve finally come up with an efficient electric motor kit for the Brompton folding bicycle. Using a 250-watt front hub motor that fits nicely into the Brompton fork, Lithium batteries that store inside of the front carrier bag, and a simple thumb throttle, this kit allows the Brompton bike to fold normally, as well as run smoothly and silently on electric power.
Peter and Bert took one of our first Brompton conversions out for a historic NYCeWheels video shoot:
We’re building Electric Brompton M3L folding bikes here in our NYCeWheels laboratory. If you have any questions about battery mounts, accessories, or custom options, feel free to contact us. This kit can be built along with a new Brompton bike, or installed on a pre-existing bike. It’s also like, the coolest freakin bike we’ve ever ridden. If you’re in New York City, definitely swing by and check it out.
