We’ll it’s official, I’m the proud owner of a brand new Brompton folding bike, and man is she a beauty! Yesterday, in a classically understated show of generosity, Bert bestowed upon me a 6 speed M bike in the newly discontinued raw lacquer color. I thought we were sold out of this color and had actually turned a few people away who had been asking about it but when Bert was scrounging the basement for a totally different bike he came across this beauty hidden behind some other boxes.
I took my Brompton for a spin around Central Park, isn't it beautiful? The park was perfect for a first ride.
I had been a bit disheartened to hear that Brompton discontinued the raw lacquer color, so you can imagine my delight when Bert pulled this now rare folding bike out of its box. Both he and Mark have raw lacquer Brompton folding bikes which I’ve been jealously eying ever since I started at the shop. So now the NYCeWheels team is half raw lacquer and half assorted cool Brompton folding bike colors. Shoi has a sweet pink and black Brompton folding bicycle, Gonzalo has an orange and black Brompton folding bike, and Izzy has a ivory and black Brompton. Yep, the NYCeWheels crew are just a bunch of Brompton fanatics, huh?
You know honestly, after riding it for two days, I wouldn’t trade my Brompton folding bike for any other folding bike in the shop. They are just too slickly designed and too much fun to ride. It may not be the lightest or least expensive folding bike, but when it comes to getting the job done my Brompton folding bike is all over it.
Riding my new Brompton folding bike at the Brommie Yummie
As it happens, I got my Brompton just in time for the Brommie Yummie ride on Sunday. If you don’t know about this group ride for Brompton folding bikes you should definitely check it out. It is a really fun way to meet other Brompton riders, and just get out and have fun in the city. My Brommie performed fantastically on this longer ride. It was the perfect chance to put my new folding bike through the paces.
Well, there’s not much more to say, just wanted to share the excitement of getting my new Brompton folding bike with all of you. Maybe I’ll see you on the next Brommie Yummie ride, September 19th and until then, I’ll see you on the bike path.

Peter,
Congratulations on your new Brompton. It was good to meet you while I was visiting NYC from Nashville last week. Why is Brompton discontinuing the raw lacquer color?
Dane
Raw Lacquer has not been discontinued! They are just having issues getting the finish correct. They will do it but it will take almost twice as long as a regular Brompton.
Ah, well that’s good to hear. Sorry for the misinformation, I guess I just want to make my bike even more precious by rarefying it. : )
