Switching From Car To Electric Bike

New bike lanes for electric bike riders

Safer bike lanes for electric bike riders on the East Side. This version has parking along the bike lane.

Well, it’s official: there are finally plans to build bike lanes on the East Side! From Houston St. to Harlem, protected bike lanes mean a safer commute for electric bike riders in our neighborhood. If you’ve ever taken one of our electric bikes for a test ride, you know how frustrating First Avenue can be, with practically no shoulder for an electric bike to pass. With two different designs for new bike lanes, riders can enjoy a divided path, with a median protecting the bike lane from traffic.

What does this mean for the Upper East Side? With bike lanes spanning the length of the island, an electric bike is now a safe alternative to a car or subway! Do you work around Union Square or in the Financial District? Now you’ll be able to ride a bike all the way down to work in half the time. With an electric bike, you won’t have to worry about sweating or fatigue on your way. Now that we have the “Bikes in Buildings law” for Manhattan, you can safely park an electric bike indoors and charge the battery while you work.

Don’t be a slave to public transportation anymore! With safer bike lanes, there is no longer an excuse to stay off of an electric bike.

This bike lane design has parking along the bus lane, keeping the lanes open for a beautiful treeline.
